InnVision Earns Grant To Solve Problems For Homeless Women
Swords to Plowshares is funding programs to solve problems for women who served their country.
A Menlo Park non-profit received thousands of dollars on Thursday that will bolster initiatives designed to reduce homelessness among female veterans.
Swords to Plowshares funded $35,000 worth of programs at The InnVision Shelter Network that help women change their lives.
The Department of Veterans Affairs estimates that almost ten percent of the 200,000 female veterans in California are or have been homeless at some point since they were discharged from the armed forces.
This money is slated to help women work through through post-traumatic stress disorders developed while serving their country.
InnVision Shelter Network coordinates shelter and supportive services for homeless people throughout Silicon Valley from its administrative office in Menlo Park, California. Almost 20% of their clients are veterans, according to an InnVision Shelter Network spokesperson.
At least 55 women will be able to obtain mental health care, because of this grant. They will also have access to an intensive care worker who can coach them through the process of finding a more stable future.
