Menlo rebounded from a tough tournament seed having faced eventual top-4 team Las Lomas in the first round, and went on to win their final three games. In the Consolation Championships, Menlo took on CCS contender Los Altos, securing a one-goal victory in a tough-fought game.
The Menlo defense was in top form, allowing an average of just 6 goals in the final three games led by goalie-trio John Wilson, Spencer Witte, and Alexander Lazar. Johnny Wilson and Alexander Carlisle led the team in steals with six apiece while, on offence, sophomore Nick Bisconti led the team with six goals on the day, while also earning eight ejections.
According to Coach Jack Bowen, “I’m really proud of how this team bounced back from a tough loss against a very good team in our first round. These guys stepped up and ran our system extremely well for three games, having 12 players making legitimate contributions. I’m really excited to run with this momentum as we move into next week’s training.”
Menlo begins league play this week, facing Carlmont on Tuesday and then a non-league match against top-CCS contender Serra on Thursday.
