Menlo Golf Wins WBAL Championship

Beats Kings Academy

Menlo School Golf won the WBAL Championship, after beating The King’s Academy 196 to 231 at Palo Alto Hills Country Club Wednesday.

The Menlo Golf program finished the season with a 9-1 record and wins the WBAL championship for the 2nd straight year. 

The Menlo Sea of Gold led by Kevin Marren was on hand to celebrate Senior Day for the seniors who played their last WBAL match. Senior Will Petit played the number one spot for Menlo and shot a 41 with birdies on the par 3 second hole and par 5 seventh hole.

Senior Jackson Dean shot a 38 in the second spot for Menlo and fired 5 pars and a birdie on holes 4 through 8. Junior Andrew Buchanan earned medalist honors by shooting a 1 under par 34. Freshman Ethan Wong shot a 39 with 6 pars and Junior Max Garnick started slowly at 6 over par after 3 holes and rallied to shoot 3 over on the last 6 holes.

Medalist: Andrew Buchanan shot 34, 1 under par
