Menlo Girls' Water Polo Cruises Past Half Moon Bay

Menlo sophomore Audrey Flower scored four times for Menlo School.

The Menlo School girls’ water polo team fired off consecutive shots for goals in the opening minutes and rolled to a 12-7 league victory over Half Moon Bay at home Wednesday.

The Knights, coming off an overtime win over Hillsdale the previous day, improve to 8-2 in Peninsula Athletic League-Ocean Division play and are 9-4 overall.

“This is a super close team, and they were pumping each other up yesterday as well as today,” Coach Fana Fuqua said. “They really feed off each other and there’s a lot of motivation. That’s important because then they feel the team belongs to them.”

By halftime Wednesday, Menlo led 9-2. Audrey Flower finished with four goals for Menlo and Kaelen Dunn had a hat trick. Kate Huneke added two more as six players scored for the Knights.

Lindsay Montgomery had another outstanding day in goal, picking up 11 saves before moving to the field in the fourth quarter.

Menlo plays Terra Nova on Thursday, Oct. 18, at Woodside.

So happy that story about Google killing the Google Reader app was a joke. Google Reader is myRead More favorite way to read the Menlo Park Patch. Without Google Reader, I would miss all the great articles here.
