Knights Trail Kings and Sacred Heart

Max Parker registered a hat trick and the Menlo boys' soccer team dominated Woodside Priory 5-0 in a West Bay Athletic League match Wednesday.

The Knights improve to 6-1-3 for 21 points, and entered Wednesday’s action behind The King's Academy and league leader Sacred Heart Prep.

Parker scored in the first half and two in the second.

Parker showed composure and precision as he not only headed his way into the back of the net, but also as he beat three defenders down the right flank and shot across the keeper’s body for the second and third goals. Freshman Kyle Perez notched assists on the first and third goals, and senior Henry Bard on the second.

The fourth goal came from astute play from Perez who racked up his third assist of the day when he fed junior Julian Viret for his first goal of the season. Then, junior Beau Baldwin found an airborne volley to the upper right corner to finish the match.

Menlo got solid defensive play from the back four of Glenn Baxter, Jack Redman, Alec Drobac and Baldwin.

Holding the middle of play were senior captains Carson Witte and Henry Bard, and in goal, the ever-steady Timmy Costa.
