Menlo Park City School District Hires New Superintendent

When Ken Ranella retires, Maurice Ghysels will succeed him.

The Menlo Park City School Board of Education announced Maurice Ghysels, Ed.D, to become the district’s next superintendent.

“Dr. Ghysels possesses an impressive depth of educational and business leadership experience and a demonstrated passion for excellence," said Maria Hilton, president of the board of education. "We are thrilled that he is joining us."

Right now, Ghysels is the Chief Schools Officer at the Santa Clara Office of Education, and is primarily reponsible for leading the Student Services Branch, a department that services about 9,000 students through a variety of programs, according to the office of education website.

Prior to that position, Ghysels was the superintendent of the Mountain View Whizman School District from 2005-2010.

He will be working with , the current superintendent, to streamline . Ghysels will become superintendent on July 1, 2011, according to the district website.
