Menlo-Atherton Girls Throw Well at Serra Meet

Track and field season is in full swing and Menlo-Atherton high school has two of the best girl discus throwers in the PAL division.

Track and field season is in full swing and Menlo-Atherton high school has two of the best girl discus throwers in the PAL division. Lisanne Horwitz and Lakai Mataele, both sophmores, are securing points for M-A whenever they throw. 

Over the weekend Ms. Horwitz and Ms. Mataele placed 7th and 8th at the Serra Throwers Only meet in the Varsity Discus event with throws of 88"8 and 85'1" respectively. Lakai also came 7th in the shot put with a throw of 30'6". This year she placed 6th in both the Varsity discus (90') and Varsity Shot Put (31') at the St. Francis Invitational

Last year Lakai was PAL champion with a throw of 100'! It is still early in the season and the goal is to peak during PAL Trials in late April.

James Sebes, Connor Stoesser, Max Sonderby and Jake Bercow also competed at the Serra event. This year Connor has placed 2nd in discus at the Aragon Dual meet throwing a personal best of 121'08" and James Sebes won the discus against Westmoor with a throw of over 108'. 

The next track and field dual meet is at M-A on Thursday March 29 at 3:30pm against Carlmont.
