Menlo 2, Sacred Heart Prep 0

The Menlo School girls' soccer team got two goals early and held on for a 2-0 victory over host Sacred Heart Prep in a West Bay Athletic League rivalry match Saturday.

Menlo's two goals both came midway through the first half. Freshman Alexandra Walker, with an assist from sophomore Jaye Boissiere, fired a 20-yard shot to the upper corner of the goal at 20 minutes.

Five minutes later Boissiere scored from 20 yards out into the lower corner of the goal off an assist from fellow sophomore Chandler Wickers.

The Knights improve to 4-0-1 WBAL and 6-4-2 overall. The Gators are 3-1-1 and 5-3-5 overall.

Menlo midfielders -- sophomore Amanda McFarland, senior Alex Tom, and Boissiere -- were effective winning possession and then creating attacking opportunities.

Menlo defenders, senior Shannon Lacy, junior Hannah Rubin, sophomore Sienna Stritter, and freshman Walker limited SHP's attack, aiding goalkeepers Julia Dressel (four saves) and Kelly McConnell (three saves) in the shutout.
