Parents Preview New Hillview Middle School

Menlo Park City School District opened the school to parents a week before school starts.

is almost finished constructing Hillview Middle School.

The district's school board hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday for parents, students, and members of the community to see the new facilities. More than 100 people sat in the bleachers of the new gym to hear school board president Laura Rich speak about the process of turning this vision into reality.

"The teachers were just given access to their classrooms three days ago," she said. "I heard they had family members and mothers helping them set up their classrooms to get ready for today," Rich said.

She smiled and half-jokingly thanked everyone who pays property taxes in the district for their contribution to the new school.

Although, heavy machinery and mounds of smashed concrete are still visible from the sidewalk outside the the district plans to begin school next week as scheduled.
