Menlo Park's City Council approved renewing a contract with the lobbying firm Capital Advocates through December , with a final vote of 3-1.
The firm will send a representative to legislative and technical meetings about High Speed Rail for the city at the rate of $5,000 per month plus expenses. It has been working for Menlo Park since 2010.
The council budgeted for a maximum of $50,000 to be spent on this firm's services.
Council Member recused himself for the vote, as he lives near the proposed high speed rail route. Mayor did not support hiring this lobbyist.
