John Ruggeiro pulled papers to begin the process to run for Atherton City Council on Friday, said Theresa N. DellaSanta, City Clerk for the Town of Atherton, California.
He will now collect signatures from registered voters in town that will nominate him to run for a seat on the council during the 2013 November election. He needs at least 20 valid signatures to qualify to run.
Ruggeiro joins Rick DeGolia, who pulled paperwork on July 16.
"The County Elections office has already verified his nomination papers deeming Mr. DeGolia officially qualified for the November 5, 2013 City Council race," said DellaSanta via email.
Potential candidates have until August 9, 2013 to complete the nomination paperwork process.
