One Bar Closer to 4G

Menlo Park may soon be able to receive higher bandwidth cellular service, when 200 new cell towers are installed in Palo Alto.

The Palo Alto City Council voted unanimously Monday to accept the Master License Agreement that will allow 4G-capable wireless antennas to be installed on city utility poles and infrastructure.

“This is the first step in the process of installation of wireless antennas,” said Tomm Marshall, the city's assistant director of Utilities Engineering.

The city does not yet have cost estimates for a 4G build-out but stands to make $300,000 annually following installation.
