The People vs Margaret Ruth Brill  

Ms. Brill is back in police custody after her court arraignment hearing. Judge Lisa Novak granted prosecutors the ability to triple her bail, bringing the total to $150,000.  Brill’s defense attorney, Michael Armstrong, had previously negotiated the ability for her to be out on bail, if she entered the Women’s Recovery Association treatment program.  That right has since been taken away.  The pretrial conference will be held at 1:30 on October 4, 2011.

The People vs Calvin Peace

Cavin Peace is being sent to the Golden Gate Regional Center to receive psychiatric medication.   He was not found competent to stand trial after he was busted for stealing vodka from the Safeway on El Camino in Menlo Park, and then hiding in the bushes from police.  The type of vodka that he stole is unknown, despite the fact that it is probably clear.

Three men arrested for burglarizing homes in the Willows have been ordered to pay back their victims, after they pleaded nolo contendere to avoid going to state prison. They were given credit for the 279 days that they’d spent incarcerated.  They will be on probation for the next three years and unable to possess firearms or ammunition.
