Obama’s Visit Cost Atherton

Police officers and city employees worked extra hard while POTUS raised funds.

Recent presidential fundraisers in Atherton cost the city about $8,122 in April 2013.

After President Obama landed at the Menlo Circus Club on April 4, additional Atherton police were dispatched to increase security levels.

The town funded about 90 extra hours of law enforcement to keep order during his visit, which cost about $5,181, according to City Manager George Rodericks.

When the POTUS departed, the town’s public work employees went to work, which cost the city $2,941.

Atherton appropriated about $10.8 million in general fund expenditures for 2013.
