Nealon Park May Be New Well Site

Sharon Heights Golf Course Offered to Pay for An Irrigation System

City staff announced Wednesday that they are searching for a space to dig a well in Menlo Park that would feed the .  One of the places identified is Nealon Park, which is on Middle Avenue west of El Camino Real.

is a better place for a new irrigation pipeline to the Sharon Heights Golf Course than , according to Menlo Park city staff. Both of those spaces had been put forth as options.

The city favors Nealon because of its land-use restrictions, according to Chip Taylor, public works director.

While the public uses the parks in the same way, Nealon Park is zoned as an “Open Space and Conservation District.” Jack Lyle Park is zoned for “Public Facilities.” 

The city will continue to review Jack Lyle Park as an option, according to city staff, by holding meetings in the community and talking with the Parks and Recreation Commission. The dates for the meeting have not been scheduled.

Taylor said the issue will be brought forward to Council for consideration in late spring or early summer.
