Menlo Park Creating New Housing Laws

City staff will meet to discuss the 2014-2022 Housing Element.

Menlo Park city staff and volunteers will meet on Tuesday in the main library to talk about the city codes that govern new housing development within city borders.

The city recently brought the housing element of its land use laws into compliance with state laws and is working on creating the next Housing Element, which will regulate how housing is created in 2014-2022.

On Tuesday, August 6, The Housing Element Steering Committee will be discussing emergency shelter requirements, transitional housing, and the possibility of providing amnesty for secondary dwelling units that are not in compliance with city zoning laws.

The committee will be meeting from 5-7 p.m. in the lower level meeting room of the Menlo Park library located at 800 Alma Street.

The complete agenda for the meeting and supplementary reports can be found here.
