Local Legislators Taking Presidential Ticket Requests
Bay area politicians are collecting requests from people who want to watch the ceremony next year.
Although President Barack Obama's inauguration for his second term is not until January, Bay Area legislators are already collecting requests from constituents who hope to attend the ceremony.
Tickets for the 57th presidential inauguration on Jan. 21, 2013, in Washington, D.C., can be requested through local Congressional representatives' websites, including those of U.S. Reps. Jackie Speier, D-San Francisco/San Mateo; ; Barbara Lee, D-Oakland; and George Miller, D-Martinez.
Ticket request links were not yet available on the websites of Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer. A maximum of two tickets can be requested, and only through the online forms on congressional websites. Requests will not be accepted by phone or email. A random lottery will be held by Dec. 13 to determine who will receive tickets to the ceremony. Those seeking more information about the inauguration and how to request tickets can visit the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies' website at www.inaugural.senate.gov/2013/getting-tickets.
