Kirsten Keith Running for County Supervisor

Menlo Park's Mayor joins a growing list of candidates for the District 4 seat.

Kirsten Keith entered a crowded field of candidates this weekend, when she declared her intent to run for the District 4 seat on the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors.

The San Mateo County Elections Office candidate roster shows Carlos Romero, East Palo Alto Councilmember, and Shelly Masur, Redwood City School District Trustee, have also filed paperwork to run for the spot that will vacate on June 5.

District 4 encompasses Menlo Park, East Palo Alto and Redwood City and houses 143,443 people, according to the latest census data.

Other candidates are actively campaigning for the position via their websites.

Memo Morantes, San Mateo County Board of Education Trustee, Ernie Schmidt, Redwood City Planning Commissioner have been raising runds and hosting events for the past few months.

Keith is to the political scene, but is quickly ascending. She was to Menlo Park's City Council in November 2010 and named mayor in December 2011. She sits in the city's with former mayor Rich Cline.

Paperwork declaring intent to run must be submited to the county elections office and completed by 5 p.m. on March 9.
