High Surf Advisory Issued

Big waves expected through Monday

A high surf advisory will go into effect this evening and continue throughout the weekend along the Bay Area coast, according to the National Weather Service.

The warning about big waves and swells goes into effect at 5 p.m. Saturday and is set to expire 5 a.m. Monday along the coastal North Bay, the San Francisco-Peninsula coast and southern Monterey Bay and Big Sur coasts. Weather officials said swells are expected to range from 15 to 20 feet with steep breakers reaching up to 22 feet in some locations.

Strong rip currents are also expected, along with large breakers. Fishermen should avoid fishing off rocks and jetties and keep an eye on the ocean, weather officials advised.

So happy that story about Google killing the Google Reader app was a joke. Google Reader is myRead More favorite way to read the Menlo Park Patch. Without Google Reader, I would miss all the great articles here.
