Patch asked candidates running for San Mateo County Board of Supervisors four questions to help residents choose.

1) What would you prioritize if you got voted in?

We need to leave no stone unturned to find ever possible efficiency and possible consolidation of duplicated services and then have a transparent and honest dialogue about how we create a sustainable budget and not simply trim at the edges. We also have to find ways to be creative and bring in new sources of revenue as economic development stimulates growth and provides for the vital service we aim to protect.

2) Who are your primary supporters?

My primary supporters are the over 250 community leaders who have extended their support for this campaign, but I am proud to have the endorsement of County Supervisor Adrienne Tissier, California Senator Leland Yee, Assembly member Fiona Ma, five local mayors, the San Mateo County Realtors Association and Local 2400 - Firefighters and the Deputy Sheriff's Association.

3) What issue do you feel most strongly about and what's your position?

The budget. For too long we have not addressed the seriousness of the economic challenges we face. We have to live within our means. I believe my experience sets me apart in the ability to bring disparate groups together with a common goal of protecting the vital services we need while looking ahead at innovative solutions to bring in new sources of revenue and get the people of San Mateo County back to work.

4) What's one thing most constituents don't know about you?

I run a non-profit that provides free clothes to under privileged children. My late mother began this crusade years ago with the belief that if children have the basic necessities and confidence they will flourish. My sister and I take great pride in keeping my mother's dream alive in protecting our greatest resources – our children.
