City Council To Study Environmental Policies

Greenhouse gas targets and a plastic shopping bag ban are on the docket.

Menlo Park City Council will be studying the city's environmental policies next Tuesday to get direction on greenhouse gas targets from city staff and commissioners, among other things.

Council will be considering potential targets for greenhouse gas emission reduction in the context of state and international goals. They have been presented with recommendations from the Environmental Quality Commission.

They will also be discussing the option of prohibiting plastic shopping bags by reviewing what other cities in the region have done to discern if it is appropriate for Menlo Park.

Last but not least, council members will talk about prohibiting polystyrene food ware at places that sell food.
