City Council Honors Town Historian

Frank Helfrich is the town's "go-to" guy for answers about Menlo Park history.

Frank Helfrich was born almost 83 years ago, in the year after Menlo Park was incorporated into a city.

"He's lived here ever since and perhaps knows more about Menlo Park than any other citizen," said Mayor Kirsten Keith during a ceremony Tuesday night to honor him for his service to the town.

Helfrich has been the town's historian for the past 30 years, cataloguing artifacts and documents .

He's the go-to guy for challenging questions about Menlo Park history, said Keith. Menlo Park City Council commended him for his service and issued a public proclamation to laud his contributions to the city.

When presented with the opportunity to say a few words about his experiences, Helfrich said, "It's been a chore for 30 years, but I've enjoyed it."
