City Cancels Boil Water Order

Officials say water should be ok to drink now.

(BCN) An official order to boil water that was issued Friday for about 150 households in Redwood City has been canceled, city officials said Sunday.

The boil order was issued after city officials discovered an illegal well that pumped roughly 75,000 gallons of untreated water into the city's drinking supply.

Residents of the city's Palm Park and Woodside Plaza neighborhoods were asked to boil water for cooking and drinking until tests could be performed to confirm the safety of the city's water.

Samples taken Saturday were tested for coliform and E.Coli bacteria by the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, according to city officials.

All tests came back negative, the city confirmed Sunday morning. The boil order was canceled after affected water in the city's supply had been determined to be safe to ingest.

City officials apologized for any inconvenience to residents who had been affected.
