Two Arrested for Home Burglary on Placitas Avenue in Menlo Park

The Sheriff's Office found the East Palo Alto and Sunnyvale suspects several cities away from scene of alleged crime.

Two men have been arrested by the San Mateo's Sheriff's Office for an alleged burglary in unincorporated Menlo Park, law enforcement officials reported Saturday.

Ruben Salas of East Palo Alto and Victor Oseguerra-Rojas of Sunnyvale allegedly burglarized a home on Thursday, April 11 at around 2:20 pm, a press release stated.

According to the Sheriff's Office, they received a 9-1-1 call from a woman who came home to find two burglars inside her residence in the 600 Block of Placitas Avenue.

When confronted, the suspects dropped the laptop computers they allegedly planned to steal and ran out a side door. The suspects fled in a blue pick-up truck with a telephone number for a gardening service written on it. Through investigative follow up, San Mateo County Detectives in conjunction with the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety located the suspects in the 1000 Block of Blazingwood Drive in the city of Sunnyvale.

After their identification, suspects Salas and Oseguerra-Rojas were taken into custody and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City for residential burglary and conspiracy.

During the investigation the Sheriff's Office learned that the suspects had been working on a gardening job at another home in the 600 Block of Placitas Avenue, which allegedly gave them the opportunity to enter this victim’s home through an unlocked door and commit the burglary.
