Tire Tracks on the Lawn

Question: Are the tire marks on the lawn from a hit-and-run?

An elderly woman lost control of her vehicle Friday afternoon, for unknown reasons, and drove it through the enclosed patio of an apartment on the 300 block of Sharon Park Drive.

Menlo Park Police responded at 12:17 p.m. and found that the woman’s vehicle had driven over the lawn, through the patio and into a tree on the other side of the patio. Tire marks were left on the lawn in the process.

Information is limited, according to Sergeant Matt Ortega, who said it was "just a traffic accident." It is not clear whether she was driving on the wrong side of the road.

The woman was not visibly injured, but did complain of pain, according to Sgt. Ortega.

“It could have been from the airbags deploying,” Ortega said.

After the incident, the woman's car was towed and she went on her way. Charges have not been filed against her.
