Tip Leads To Arrest of Menlo Park Man

Man was caught on a home security video in Redwood City.

Police in Redwood City said a tip from the public helped identify a suspected burglar who was captured on home security video in August. The suspect was filmed ringing a front doorbell at a home in the 1100 block of Lyons Street at around 1 p.m. on Aug. 30, and then entering the home through a rear sliding-glass door that was left unlocked, according to Redwood City police.

Electronic items and jewelry were later reported stolen. Police released footage from the surveillance video in an attempt to identify the suspect. A member of the public identified the man as Ludwig Garcia-Amaya, 22, of Menlo Park, who was contacted and arrested Thursday for an outstanding parole warrant, police said.

Garcia-Amaya was taken into custody and booked at San Mateo County jail, and investigators are seeking to charge him in connection with the residential burglary on Lyons Street, police said. Redwood City police have arrested six residential burglary suspects in the past 10 days, police said. Anyone with information regarding the suspect is asked to contact Redwood City police Detective David Stahler at (650) 780-7620.
