On the night before Christmas all through the town, the scrooges decided to cavort all around. The children were tucked into bed with a smile, while holiday humbugs emerged to defile.
On Christmas Eve in Atherton:
A white male adult was seen running southbound on El Camino Real at 12:14 a.m. Police say he was unshaven and looked confused. After a conversation with police, he was sent on his way.
At 9:47 a.m., a resident reported a false use of a social security card at the police department office on Ashfield Road.
Police saw a vehicle on Fletcher Drive that had been parked in front of a residence for more than 72 hours; they deemed it abandoned at 11:13 a.m.
At 11:16 a.m. someone on Selby Lane called 911 and hung up. When police returned the call, the resident said they dialed it on accident. Perhaps they were trying to call relatives in New York.
A Hayward resident was detained on Dinkelspiel Station Lane and given a ticket for not having a driver’s license at 11:42 a.m.
Keys to a Cadillac were found on the side of the road on Camino Al Lago near Park Lane at 11:44 a.m.
Bullets were found on Almendral Avenue at 2:56 p.m. Police confiscated them.
Later that day, officers found another unoccupied car in front of the Atherton Library at 5:55. Police say it checked out ok.
At the intersection of Marsh Road and Middlefield a maroon Mercedes was becoming a traffic hazard at 6:10p.m. Police called AAA and got it moving.
The final call of the night was on El Camino Real and Valparaiso Avenue. A Redwood City resident was given a ticket for driving without a license. Her car was released to someone else with a valid license.
On Christmas Day:
At 4:30 a.m. police officers arrived on Isabella Avenue, after reports of a fire; they referred it to another agency.
At 6:11 p.m. an officer saw a suspicious vehicle on Lloyden Drive and began investigating. The owner of the car could not be found. The officer concluded that the trunk was left open by accident.
At 7:24 p.m. a mother and daughter were having a verbal altercation at the intersection of Middlefield and Marsh Road. Police drove up to their late 90s Toyota Camry and talked to them. The situation was settled at the scene.
At 11:49 p.m. an officer saw a light on in someone’s car on Maple Avenue. The owner was contacted; the battery was saved.
