Menlo Park police say the report turned out to be unsubstantiated.

The Facebook campus in Menlo Park received a threat Tuesday night that prompted local police to search the area and employees to be held at the site, police report.

According to Menlo Park Police Commander Dave Bertini, the report came in around 7:10 p.m. when the agency "...received [word of] a possible threat to the Facebook Campus in Menlo Park from the San Francisco Police Department."

"Based on this possible threat, the Menlo Park Police Department followed standard operating procedures and sent officers to the Facebook campus and advised Facebook personnel," Bertini said.  "Facebook personnel held employees at the site until officers were on scene."

However, by 8:30 p.,. Facebook employees were allowed to leave the campus normally, after "the threat was determined to be unsubstantiated and not credible..." according to Bertini.
