Suspect in Menlo Park Burglary Arrested Thursday

The Sheriff's Office takes into custody a Redwood City man for breaking and entering a home on Waverly Avenue.

A Redwood City man has been arrested as a suspect in a Menlo Park residential burglary, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office announced Saturday.

Alexis Sanchez-Nava allegedly burglarized a home on the 3000 block of Waverly Avenue in unincorporated Menlo Park on Thursday, April 11 around 10:30 a.m., according to a press statement.

The Sheriff's Office stated that an alert citizen saw a suspicious vehicle parked in front of his neighbor’s home and wrote down the license plate number. When the neighbor arrived home, the vehicle, a white Toyota Scion, sped off from the area. Upon entering their house the neighbor found it had been burglarized and called 9-1-1.

Sheriff’s Deputies located the Toyota Scion in the 1900 Block of East Bayshore Rd. in Redwood City, however it was unoccupied.   

Dectectives continued their search and contacted Sanchez-Nava, who according to the Sheriff, and determined he was involved in the burglary. A search warrant was written and property taken in the Waverly burglary was allegedly recovered in the Sanchez-Nava’s residence.

Nava was booked into San Mateo County Jail for burglary. Further investigation is still underway to identify other persons who were involved in this crime. 

The Sheriff's believe that the suspect Sanchez-Nava and perhaps his associates may be responsible for a recent series of residential burglaries in the San Carlos and Redwood City area. They ask any person who may have information about similar sounding burglaries to anonymously call the tip line at 1-800-547-2700 or contact Det.
