Police Search For Man Seen Leaving Homicide Scene

Written by Bay City News

East Palo Alto police say they are searching for a suspicious person seen fleeing from the scene of a fatal shooting Saturday. Police were called to the scene of the shooting on the 400 block of Larkspur Avenue by a "Shot Spotter" activation signaling gunshots in the area, according to Detective Angel Sanchez.

They found the victim, described as a 30-year-old male, Latino East Palo Alto resident, sitting in the driver's seat of a vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds.

Firefighters declared him dead at the scene. Detectives have learned the victim was approached by unknown suspects who fired multiple rounds into the vehicle.

A tipster has reported seeing a suspicious male running through the Martin Luther King Park after the shooting, wearing a red hat and a white shirt. A dark green or gray car was also seen in the area at the time.

The shooting does not appear to be gang related at this time, but the investigation is ongoing, Sanchez said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Tommy Phengsene at (650)798-5947 or police dispatch at (650) 321-1112. Anonymous tips can be
