Police Nab Suspected Burglars in Menlo Park

The men were apprehended during a routine traffic stop.

Three males are in police custody today after Menlo Park Police arrested them for burglarizing a home in East Palo Alto.

At about 11 p.m. on Tuesday, two Menlo Park residents were cruising in their car when they were pulled over by the police for a vehicle code violation, according to police records.

Sergeant Ed Soares said that during the incident, officers smelled marijuana, which triggered an investigation.

“During the investigation into the smell of marijuana officers located numerous electronic items, jewelry and a large amount of U.S currency,” Soares said.

Officers said that the items in the car were the spoils from a recently burgled house in East Palo Alto. Menlo Park Police dispatchers talked to the East Palo Alto residents who described the stolen items. Their property was eventually returned to them, according to police records.

Francisco Ramirez, 20, and Victor Bell, 18, were booked into San Mateo County Jail and charged with residential burglary, conspiracy, possession of stolen items, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and criminal street gang enhancement. The third male, a minor, was booked into the Hillcrest juvenile detention center on the same charges.

In 2012 there were 165 burglaries in Menlo Park, according to Menlo Park Police statistics. This incident is the 25th burglary in the East Palo Alto-Menlo Park community this year, according to crimereports.com

So happy that story about Google killing the Google Reader app was a joke. Google Reader is myRead More favorite way to read the Menlo Park Patch. Without Google Reader, I would miss all the great articles here.
