Police Looking For Witnesses to Homicide

The shooting was the first homicide of the year in East Palo Alto.

By Bay City News

Police in East Palo Alto are pleading for witnesses to come forward in the city's first homicide of the year, which occurred on Monday afternoon.

East Palo Alto Police Sgt. Jeff Liu said witness accounts are still needed to help solve the case, which resulted in the death of 24-year-old Jonathan Alcazar, a city resident. Alcazar was found by police suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene just before 2 p.m.

Liu said police received a ShotSpotter activation alerting them to the midday shooting in the 2600 block of Illinois Avenue. He said there were people milling about the neighborhood, so there is a likelihood that somebody can provide information to help solve the crime.

A second victim, who arrived at an area hospital with gunshot wounds, remains in critical condition, according to Liu. The name of that victim has not been released.

Police have no suspect or motive at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact East Palo Alto police at (650) 321-1112.

So happy that story about Google killing the Google Reader app was a joke. Google Reader is myRead More favorite way to read the Menlo Park Patch. Without Google Reader, I would miss all the great articles here.
