Police Investigating Fatal Menlo Park Shooting

Man killed while sitting in his car Saturday night.

 

A person was shot and killed in Menlo Park Saturday evening, a police commander said.

Police were called around 6:30 p.m. to reports of gunshots fired in the 300 block of Ivy Drive, according to Menlo Park police Cmdr. Dave Bertini.

Arriving officers found a victim lying in the street suffering from a gunshot wound.

Emergency responders arrived and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Police said witnesses reported hearing gunshots and seeing two people fleeing the area. One was seen running north on Ivy Drive and the other was running west on Modoc Avenue, police said.

The suspects were described only as men wearing dark, hooded sweatshirts.

Investigators believe the victim was sitting in a vehicle when the shooting occurred, and did not live in the area.

The investigation is ongoing.

The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of relatives.
