Update: Police Barricaded Streets in East Menlo Park

Helicopter patrol brought in to assist on the man hunt.

Menlo Park Police cordoned off the streets in East Menlo Park Thursday afternoon to catch a man suspected of stealing a car.  Police shut down sections of Carlton, Hamilton, Ivy and Willow Rd, while they sought him.

The search began around noon when police attempted to stop the driver of a green Honda Accord they suspected was stolen. Instead of complying, the driver rammed the Accord into a patrol car. He then emerged from the car and ran away.

Palo Alto Police and the San Mateo County Sheriff's office assisted in the man hunt that took about two and a half hours, along with East Bay Regional Park’s helicopter team.

At about 3 p.m. Police arrested Valentin Jimenez, 29.  He was hiding in a garage in the 1300 block of Madera.

"He was arrested on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, assault with a deadly weapon, felony hit and run, and resisting/obstructing a police officer," said Nicole Acker, Menlo Park Police spokesperson.

No one was injured in the process.  Acker said the roads should be opened by 3:45 p.m.

So happy that story about Google killing the Google Reader app was a joke. Google Reader is myRead More favorite way to read the Menlo Park Patch. Without Google Reader, I would miss all the great articles here.
