Menlo Park Police arrested a teen Thursday afternoon for the burglary of a home in the Suburban Park neighborhood.
At about 12:45 in the afternoon, a neighbor reported seeing a suspicious person on Oakhurst Pl., according to Menlo Park Police Sergeant Matthew Ortega.
“The suspect was described as a black male juvenile, wearing dark clothing and carrying a backpack,” Ortega said.
Officers arrived on the scene shortly thereafter and saw him emerge from a yard. Police approached the 14-year-old male to investigate what he was doing there.
Officers say the home he walked out of had been burglarized.
When they searched the teen, they found an iPhone, a black Guess watch, a set of Apple earphones, and a charger. Police say these objects were stolen from the home. The teen was arrested for a breaking into the home, which is a felony offense. He was booked into Hillcrest Juvenile Facility.
“The Menlo Park Police Department will continue to take pro-active steps in ensuring the safety of our residents and ask that any suspicious activity be immediately reported to our dispatch center,” Ortega said.
