A person was struck and killed by a train in Palo Alto Saturday morning, according to a Caltrain spokeswoman.
At about 10:55 a.m., northbound train No. 801, a Baby Bullet express train, hit the unidentified person at the California Avenue Caltrain station in Palo Alto, spokeswoman Tasha Bartholomew said.
The train was not scheduled to stop at that station, she said.
As of 11:50 a.m., emergency personnel were on the scene and trains were single-tracking at reduced speeds through the area.
Update: Trains have been experiencing delays of up to an hour, according to a Bartholomew.
Train service was temporarily suspended in both directions during the initial response by emergency personnel, she said.
Afterwards, trains began single-tracking at reduced speeds through the area.
