Menlo Park Residents Shelter in Place After Gas Line Break

By Bay City News Service:

Residents at a Menlo Park apartment complex have been asked to shelter in place following a break in a small gas line Tuesday afternoon, fire and utility officials said.

The 2-inch line feeding to the Menlo Commons complex at 2140 Santa Cruz Ave. was broken by a third-party contractor, according to PG&E spokesman Jason King.

PG&E crews were dispatched at 2:44 p.m. and arrived on scene at 3:05 p.m., King said.

Firefighters are also on the scene and have asked residents to shelter in place, Menlo Park Fire Protection District Division Chief Frank Fraone said.

Fraone said the line was a small one connecting to the front of the complex and that the break occurred at an exterior wall.
