The swore in its new police commander and recognized volunteers for their service to the department Monday at the Menlo-Atherton Performing Arts Center.

"The swearing-in and promotional ceremony captured all of the employee transitions from the beginning to the end of 2011," said Nicole Acker, Menlo Park PD Spokesperson. 

New Police Commander Dave Bertini was hired by MPPD in October, after working for the Pacifica Police Department for almost 25 years.

Family and friends attended and pinned the badges on the officers.
