> Jan. 16, 10:07 p.m.: Robbery, 1500 block of Solano This refers to the robbery that occurred at the Safeway last Wednesday night, while someone in my family was shopping there. I'd like to know more about what happened.

We heard about the robbery at the bank further up Solano. I heard about the robbery at Safeway from other Safeway employees at the new Shattuck Safeway instead.

The Patch has sorted through a virtual 'pile' of incidents, and noted home burglaries, date and location. I find the 'location'/date information informative, and not provided in the Oakland Trib 'pile.' I can also note a characteristic that seems to emerge: where as in the past home robberies were conducted through a left-open window, or doggie door, now they are breaking in. I also note that they continue to be done 'two at a time'. I suspect that a largenumber of houses are under observation for a (evening) period, and cherry picked. I also suspect that about a fourth go unreported because, although there was a trespass, nothing obvious was taken, and it goes unreported. Favorite targets? Houses with a modicum of Christmas appointments, but not toddler toys. Houses with computer boxes, Amizon boxes, or big-screen TV boxes packed between the garbage cans. Houses that go quiet when a single female leaves the premises (read: jewelry). Leaving valuable jewelry in or about the bedroom dresser is a thiefs dream (Leave some jewelry there all right, just NOT the good stuff!)
