California Assemblymember Rich Gordon will be moderating a hearing in Half Moon Bay on Wednesday that will focus on the ways that sea level rise impacts the economy. The hearing will include perspective from thought leaders in academia and industry.

Professors from Stanford University, University of California Santa Barbara, and the Director of the Pacific Coast Federation of Fisherman’s Associations will testify about their perspective on the issue. Joining them will be experts from the Monterey County Farm Bureau, the California Department of Water Resources, and California State Parks.

Commercial Fisherman Bruce Steel and Greg Dale, Coast Seafoods Company operations manager, will contribute to the hearing, which is free and open to the public.

This is the second of four hearings designed to collect perspective about the ways in which sea level rise changes coastal agriculture, fishing and aquaculture industry, and tourism.

The hearing starts at 2 p.m. on Wednesday July 24, 2013 in the Half Moon Bay Department Operations Center located at 537 Kelley Avenue in Half Moon Bay, California.

The hearing concludes at 5 p.m.

The perspective collected at the hearing will be compiled into a report that will be delivered to the Assembly about key issues facing California. This information will be used to identify where to appropriate future funding.

People can park cars at the event. Bikes can park at the elementary school across the street.
