Another Shooting in East Palo Alto

The fourth injury shooting reported in the last week.

Police in East Palo Alto are investigating a shooting that left a young man wounded late Tuesday morning -- the fourth injury shooting reported in the city in the past week.

The incident was initially reported as an assault in the area of Bay Road and Palo Verde Avenue at about 11:30 a.m., police said.

As officers were being dispatched to the scene, an officer on patrol in the neighborhood was flagged down by someone who led the officer to a 19-year-old man who had been shot, according to police.

The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Witnesses told investigators that a male suspect had approached the victim, shot him, then fled on foot. No arrests have been made in the case.

About a half dozen officers remained at the scene this afternoon, combing through the neighborhood.

Investigators have not said whether they believe the incident was related to three other shootings that have occurred in East Palo Alto since last Wednesday.

On Sunday night, a 49-year-old Menlo Park man was shot multiple times as he sat in his car in the 2200 block of Addison Avenue.

The man was taken to a hospital and was expected to survive, police said.

Last Wednesday, officers responded to two separate shootings, the first of which was reported in the 1700 block of Tulane Avenue at about 5 p.m.

Police did not find a victim at the scene, but a short time later, a 28-year-old Daly City man walked into a local hospital seeking treatment for two gunshot wounds to his lower body.

The second shooting was reported about four hours later, when shots were fired in the 2600 block of Farrington Way at about 8:55 p.m., police said.

A 26-year-old man had been wounded in his leg. He was taken to a hospital and was expected to survive.
