Menlo Park Resident Thomas Kurian, Oracle Executive Vice President, Appointed Chairman of American Heart Association’s Greater Bay Area’s Heart Walks

MENLO PARK, Nov. 4, 2013 –The American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association are pleased to announce that Thomas Kurian has accepted the position of Chairman of the Greater Bay Area’s Heart Walks. Kurian, Oracle Executive Vice President of Product Development, has been with the company since 1996 and in addition to executive leadership has shown a strong interest in philanthropic efforts.
“Thomas understands the importance of community and employee engagement,” says Yerem Yeghiazarians, MD, President of the San Francisco and San Mateo Counties American Heart Association Board. “With Thomas’ industry connections and corporate stewardship, the Board is confident he will grow our Heart Walks to exceed outreach and financial goals.”
After accepting the chairmanship, a close relative of Kurian’s suffered a stroke. His relative is now recovering and doing well. Kurian’s personal experience is even more motivation to educate the community of heart disease and stroke signs and symptoms and increase company and individual participation at next year’s Heart Walks.
Kurian’s charitable leadership skills will help further our mission and generate funds to exceed our $3.15 million goal. Heart Walk season begins in September 2014.
