How to Count Calories without Counting!

Calories in = calories out, but I hate counting calories! I can come up with a list of excuses not to do it so here is the easiest way I have found to stay on track without measuring, logging, journaling, calculating or getting on to MyFitness pal, etc.

By the way you will not find any of my tips on vegetables because any vegetable is a great vegetable! I recommend just as weight watchers and many other organizations and weight loss professionals, the more veg the merrier. Eating too many vegetables has never been my problem and I have yet to meet someone who it is. So back to the foods we should be counting.

Only buy single servings. Period. It is that easy.

I LOVE single servings of Cheese, be it a cheese stick, a wedge, or laughing cow circles. they have more then just string cheese these days; cheddar, tomato basil, jalapeno, fresh mozzarella, jack. Pair it with a piece of fruit and it is a great snack!! If I buy a whole block, I am sampling it while I am slicing and one slice never seems enough and there i go eating far too much.

I love Ak-mak crackers (Trader Joes) and I get the whole sheet (1 sheet = 4 crackers) is plenty satisfying. Add a cheese stick and a couple slices of turkey for a great protein packed lunch! More bang for your calories then triscuts or other crackers.

Individually packaged burgers, jenny O freezes and packages them them individually. Other good finds: Boca Burgers, Trader Joes Halibut Burgers, No-Nitrate Hot Dogs (TJ's or Applewood), individually frozen chicken breasts. The trick: only take one out of the freezer for each person and cook it up. 1 for 1, cannot get easier then that!! Not the whole package!!

Pure Protein Shakes in a can (Love the ones from Trader Joes!) makes for a great breakfast on the run. Everyone MUST eat or drink Breakfast!!

Individual snack packs of nuts (TJ's), small bags of Popcorn, 9g Fiber Granola Bars from Trader Joes

Eggs, easy. ONE egg! Boiled, fried, scrambled. Just one and done.

Whenever I buy tempting snacks like potato chips, candy, ice cream, I also just get 1 single serving. It satisfies without guilt!!

Want amazing cheese cake or a Susie Cake? Get a slice, not the whole cake!!

This is what works for me and my family with our crazy hectic schedule! Keep it simple, don't over cook, do not plan on left overs. They all to often become seconds. Keep your kitchen safe for you and your family! If I have a freezer full of ice cream, my kids will wear me down and we will all be eating it. If there is 1 ice cream for each of us, it is a treat, just as it should be. The probability of getting into the car and driving to the store to get more is slim to none.
