Cheeky Monkey Joins Yiftee, Creating Opportunities for Local Businesses

Cheeky Monkey, Menlo Park’s own toy store, has partnered with Yiftee after recognizing the need to encourage residents to acknowledge life’s special and not-so-special moments. Cheeky Monkey now features its toys on Yiftee (www.yiftee.com), a creative new iPhone app and Internet service that lets consumers send small, unexpected gifts among friends, family and colleagues easily through email, mobile and social media. Yiftees are real gifts that the recipients pick up at a favorite local café, restaurant, shop, boutique or florist. Now with Cheeky Monkey as a featured merchant on Yiftee, you can send your favorite niece or nephew in Menlo Park a small reminder of how much you love them. All they have to do is go to their beloved local toy store, and use the Yiftee gift card to get your present. What’s more, you have also just helped boost sales of a local business that has been there to bring smiles on the faces of our neighborhood kids.

Dexter, the owner of Cheeky Monkey, when asked what first got him to join Yiftee, said, “I thought (Yiftee) was a neat concept. It is a nice way to show case some of our small products and it was so easy to use with the whole credit card system. We did not have to set up a whole different system to use the Yiftee gift cards. It is also easy for the gift givers and receivers because it is all online.”

In addition to the gift-giving advantages for residents, Yiftee has also proved to be a great platform for the merchants.

As Dexter said, “(Yiftee) exposed us to clients who did not know that we were here.”   These local businesses are the backbone of our economy and in these times of economic recovery, local businesses provide great value to their community.

Those using Yiftee should be aware of the fact that they are making a difference in lives of people who belong to their own neighborhood. By using Yiftee, they are supporting their neighbors who are striving to provide good customer service to all those around them. As Dexter succinctly stated when asked about the benefit of a local merchant to a community, “Your dollars make a difference and when you do support your local stores and merchants, you support a lot more like, in our case, schools and charities.” This added affect helps create a community that is better to live in.

With initiatives life Yiftee, hopefully we would progress towards a society in which people are more appreciative of their loved ones and more cognizant of their local stores that have been making them smile for years past.
