Salon Menlo returns with a Halloween Celebration on the 75th Anniversary of Orson Welles' classic War of the Worlds radio broadcast. Exactly 75 yeas ago, this science fiction radio drama, presented in the form of a real time news report, caused panic in the streets--convincing listeners that Martians were attacking New Jersey. One the eve of World War II, with growing unrest in Europe, fear of invaders ran high--even if they were from another planet.
This event, sponsored by the Al Jacobs fund, administered by the Friends of the Menlo Park Public Library, is FREE and open to all.
