Celebrating our first season in our home theater, Menlowe Ballet presents Reverie, featuring the world premiere of Sweet Sadness by choreographer famed Russian choreographer Viktor Kabaniaev, and works by Artistic Director, Michael Lowe.

Viktor Kabaniaev trained at the Vaganova School in St. Petersburg, Russia and has enjoyed a remarkable career as both dancer and choreographer. His works have been presented by companies throughout Europe, Russia, and the United States. Most recently he has received attention for his featured role in the 2011 award-winning ballet documentary film, First Position. For Menlowe Ballet he creates Sweet Sadness, set to music by Jean Sibelius.

Two offerings by Lowe complete the program. Chuntian resembles a watercolor painting come to life with streams, tadpoles, dueling crickets, and lotus flowers. Rousing, audience-favorite Surfside pays homage to instrumental vintage surf music and features a live musical performances.
