The Friends of the Menlo Park Library are hosting their annual Holiday Book Sale, on Sunday, December 2, Noon to 4:00 P.M. in the Library Meeting Room, in the basement at 800 Alma Street, Menlo Park. The December sale is their most successful mini-sale.
Spirits are high, and patrons are happy to be searching for great buys on special books, available in a welcoming and efficient atmosphere. This event features a large quantity of attractive, gently used donations. The Holiday and Children’s books are usually the hottest sale items.
Other popular categories include Art, History, Literature, Mystery, Collectibles, Religion, Fiction and Biography. Books are waiting for discovery, most of the time one-tenth of the retail price.
During the year, Library patrons have been generously donating high quality books and in great numbers. Their donations are then processed and featured in the sales throughout the calendar year by the Friends, whose labor turns these donations into funds to enhance the Library collection and children’s and adult programs. All proceeds go directly to the Library.
For those who have not been to a mini-sale, please note that the rush hour is between noon and 12:30 or so, and it seems that early birds do get the best worms. However, those who avoid the rush will find the setting more relaxed and conducive to a search for a treasure. In those four hours between noon and 4.PM, there is never a bad time.
