Candlelight Vigil Against Gun Violence

Friday, February 22, 2013

Lytton Plaza, Palo Alto, 6 pm

CANDLELIGHT VIGIL FRIDAY EVENING IN PALO ALTO

With the slogan “Protect Children, Not Guns,” a candlelight vigil will be held this Friday at 6 PM at Palo Alto’s Lytton Plaza (corner of Emerson Street and University Avenue). The event will be part of a national “Day of Action to End Gun Violence” pressing for Congressional action to expand background checks for gun purchases. With 92 per cent of Americans and 74 per cent of NRA members currently supporting expanded background checks, participants at Friday’ event will make the case that such legislation warrants a simple congressional vote. Victims of gun violence across the country deserve it.

Invited speakers include local and state representatives. Organizing for Action is a nonprofit organization established to support President Obama in achieving enactment of the national agenda Americans voted for on Election Day 2012. Candles and signs will be provided. All are welcome.

So happy that story about Google killing the Google Reader app was a joke. Google Reader is myRead More favorite way to read the Menlo Park Patch. Without Google Reader, I would miss all the great articles here.
