Friends for Youth’s Becky Cooper and Patricia Moore Harbour will be discussing the connection between mentorship and youth development in their book Community Educations: A Resource for Educating and Developing Our Youth, published by Kettering Foundation Press.

This event will be held at Kepler’s Books in Menlo Park on January 10, 2013 at 7:30pm as an installment in the Kepler’s Arts and Lectures series.

Patricia Moore Harbour’s Community Educators: A Resource for Educating and Developing Our Youth is a collection of contributions from professionals who work to strengthen their community through its youth. The book offers the collective argument that education should extend beyond the realm of academia and into the hands of community. In other words, it is up to us to provide structure where structure is absent. Our very own Becky Cooper is featured in a chapter where she provides examples of success stories of mentor-mentee friendships created at Friends for Youth.

Becky Cooper stated that she “is excited to work with Pat Moore in order to establish a solid foundation for promoting successful youth development in our community. Through our friendship with establishments like Kepler’s, we can inform the public about the importance of enabling all sorts of educational and life resources to youth regardless of their background.”

So happy that story about Google killing the Google Reader app was a joke. Google Reader is myRead More favorite way to read the Menlo Park Patch. Without Google Reader, I would miss all the great articles here.
