El Camino Youth Symphony Annual Benefit Concert

Dr. Camilla Kolchinsky and the Senior Symphony present an all-Russian program with special
guest Ilya Yakushev, winner of the 2005 World Piano Competition and
recipient of the Gawon International Music Society
Award. "Charismatic and energetic," Mr. Yakushev, will take the
stage with the Senior Symphony on March 15, 2014, at Flint Center performing
Tchaikovsky's epic Piano Concerto No. 1. The program also features
two great Shostakovich masterworks, Symphony No. 9 and the Festive
Overture
.



Russian pianist Ilya Yakushev made his San Francisco Symphony
debut un 2007 with Music Director Michael Tilson Thomas, performing Prokofiev's
First and Fourth Piano Concertos as part of the Symphony's "Prokofiev
Festival." His performances were included in the top ten classical music
events of the year by theSan Francisco
Chronicle
 and prompted a return to the San Francisco Symphony in 2009.
